Homecoming!

Here we are! Home at last! And I have to say it feels great. Camp slept hard all the way home (as did his mommy!). He's already had a nice nursing session and enjoyed some time on his Boppy.

The awesome surprise when we got home was some sweet landscaping done by some awesome friends (see the pics below). THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! Becca and I cannot explain how amazing that is. It is so beautiful and is a perfect "welcome home" for Camp. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The Sign of the Covenant

Camp has officially been circumcised (sorry, no pictures!). And no, don't take my post title seriously. Dr. Monti came by after performing the ritual and talked with us for awhile and gave us her blessing to head on home. So, pretty much as soon as they bring Camp back into our room, we'll be on our way. Can't wait to see many of you!

Getting ready

Well, we're not quite sure of the plans for discharge, but it should be happening soon. We're still waiting for Dr. Monti to come by to circumcize Camp. Meanwhile, we had our last meeting with the pediatrician here, and Camp got his pictures taken. I'll post the website link for you all to see those pics (they're very fun - some of you may want to order some) as soon as they are available. Hoping to bring Camp tp K-town shortly...

The 25th Post

There's not much that needs to be said about this picture. Try not to smile when you look at it. =) Another goodnight to everyone we love (that's you).

Party at Truett 717

It's been a fun day so far. We've seen so many of you here and heard from even more of you on this blog. We just love you all. Camp is doing quite well. He got a good report from the pediatrician this afternoon, and we are set to head home tomorrow around noon. Here's some pics from today, including take out lunch from CAMPisi's!

A Nice Night

Becca got a couple hours of solid rest, and I slept pretty hard myself. The nurses brought Camp in several times to feed throughout the night, and he did well. Still learning, though. A few minutes ago, he passed his hearing test (see photo below). So, now we're just kinda hanging out enjoying a nice slow morning with our almost one-day old son!

Good night to all

It is late now, and Camp is in the nursery for a little while so that Becca can rest and relax. We are about to try to sleep for a couple of hours before attempting to feed again. Right now Becca is in the shower, which she is enjoying very very much.

I figured while she was in there I would take the opportunity to post one last time for the day (or night), and give you all some fun pics to get you through until you all come and visit! =) It was great to see so many of you already today. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and encouragement.

And a special note for those who don't know: you can click on any of these pictures to make it bigger for Camp close-up!

Pictures!

Check 'em out. I don't really know what else to say right now, other than thank you all for your prayers, and praise the Lord for His blessing. I will continue to update about what's happening. If you have questions, put them in a comment, and I will do my best answer. And feel free to stop by. We're in Truett 717 until at least Monday. We'd love to see you!

He's here!

Beautiful. 6 lbs. 3 oz. Ten fingers and ten toes. 19 and a half inches. 12:04 pm! Thanks for your prayers. I'll post pics soon!

Monitor

Becca is hooked up to a fetal monitor now so that they can see her contractions better. They're getting really big, and she can feel the pressure now.

Noon???

Sarah just told us that if we're thinking optimistically, Camp might just come to town by noon! Whoa!

The Floodgates are Opened

We just met Dr. Haddock. She and Dr. Monti tag-team it, so it is possible that she will perform the delivery. She seemed really awesome, so that's totally cool. She checked Becca out and said it all looks good right now. Just about 6 centimeters, so things are going quickly, which is awesome. Dr. Haddock broke Becca's water (hence, the post title), so we'll be moving forward even more.

Epidural

Well, seeing as how Becca has been having contractions for about 60 hours now, she elected to go ahead and get an epidural. It was successful, and Becca is a very happy camper now. Nurse Sarah just checked her and said she is now at 5 centimeters and 90% effaced. So, we're doing good!

We're in!

For now, at least. We woke up about 2:30 am, and the contractions were hitting hard, so we timed them for a couple of hours til Becca had had enough. And here we are now - in labor & delivery. The nurse (Sarah) is optimistic that we will get to stay (yea!), as Becca is now at 4 centimeters and completely thinned out. BUT, we aren't 100% sure that we're sticking around yet, so stay tuned. The doctor on call for Dr. Monti (Dr. Haddock) will be coming by soon to give us the update. If we get to stay, then I'll post a picture!

Okay, scratch that! The nurse just came in and said we're going to have the baby, so we're here for good! Here's a picture...

A Little Closer

Well, after hanging out at the Terry house this evening and looking at baby pictures of Clacie, the contractions are now only about 8 minutes apart and seem to be a little more intense. This is the first real change in about 24 hours. Hopefully Becca can still rest well tonight.

Sorry to those who voted for Friday. Sunday looks to be the people's choice right now! If Camp comes then, I think we'd have to assume that he'll be a preacher. Sweet. I don't really know what Monday would mean. Maybe y'all can help with that one. Good night to all!

Nothing to Report

Well, I've read the comments recently (awesome, by the way; thanks!), and I realized that I should have posted something else today. Unfortunately, I don't really have anything for you. As Becca said in her comment, she's still got the contractions that are far apart, but by doctor's orders, she's staying low key.

I feel like I should do something to generate some crazy labor news. Meanwhile, you all just keep on talking to each other and recruiting more people to check out the blog and vote (I realize that I misspelled the word "think" on the poll question, but this program does not allow you to edit the poll once voting has commenced, so I hope that doesn't bother y'all as much as it does me).

And a big congratulations to our good friends David and Amy Teem!

Rise and Shine

Great sleep last night for Becca and me. Very helpful. Becca said she did wake up a time or two to go to the bathroom and because of the contractions (20 or so minutes apart). But otherwise she slept deeply, so that is awesome.

I'm at the office now for a couple of hours. That's really all there is to say right now. Stay tuned!

A Little Slower Now

All right, all I can say is that I am really glad Camp is not out of the womb right now because his first taste of Texas A&M Aggie football would be a sour one. If Baylor's the first game he sees, we should be in better shape!

The contractions are much farther apart now - about 15 to 20 minutes. They are still quite discomforting, as is evidenced by Becca's contorted facial expressions. =) She's currently taking a bath, and then we're going to make an attempt to sleep.

So, pray for some rest for the mother-to-be this evening. We thank you.

AND thanks to everyone who voted in the first poll. I had to scratch it for obvious reasons, but the new poll is up, so I encourage everyone to vote again. It's fun to see your guesses!

Until the next post...

Back Home

A disappointing title for many of you to read I'm sure. Here's what went down this morning...

We got to Dr. Monti's office, and Becca was still having contractions. We only waited about 10 minutes, then we were in - only to find out that the contractions aren't intense enough to call "active" labor. It is labor, just not "active." So, whatever that means, it means that Becca will continue to have these contractions until the "intense" ones start up.

When will that be? Well, God knows. Very well could be before our planned inducing date of Monday the 24th, but we are not sure. I may need to change the poll a bit (thanks for voting, by the way), but I'll keep it for now because there is certainly is a chance that we'll be going back tonight.

Dr. Monti said the prostaglandin did its job and got things rolling as she planned, but it's only the beginning of the process. Becca is now 2 centimeters, and she's 80% effaced, which is great.

That's the news for now. Not great news for my wife, but okay for me because I get to extend this blog for awhile!

And We're Off!

We're leaving the house now - heading to Dr. Monti's office. I wonder if you get in right away when you're in labor? That would be nice. I'll let you know about that one. Nothing new to report. Thanks for voting! And just so you know, Becca is not happy with whoever voted for Friday or later. =) But, for those of you who haven't yet voted, don't let her feelings sway you one way or the other!

A New Day

The title of this post is very deceiving, as it is indeed morning to most of you, but to Becca and me it just feels like an extension of the night. I got a couple hours of sleep until I joined her on the couch about 3:30am. She, on the other hand, has only gotten three or four five-minute naps. Bummer. So, we're kinda bored at this point. But, we'll be leaving the house at 10am, so we're counting down with anticipation. T-minus three hours and counting...

Bed Time

Well, it's time to try to sleep. Is that possible to do during labor? I'm sure many of you know already. But I don't, so we'll see what happens. The contractions are consistently about seven minutes apart. Looks like I'm skipping class tomorrow. See you all in the morning - if not sooner.

Contractions, Pt. 2

Okay, so since Becca started to lie down a hour and a half ago, the contractions have been a little (but not too much) farther apart, which was expected. We talked to Dr. Monti again, and she told us that we're supposed to come to our previously scheduled appointment, which isn't til tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10:45am. Yuck. That means contractions probably all night long. IF they get more intense, then we may be heading up there tonight, but probably not. But believe me, if you check here, you'll be (among) the first to know!

Oh, and I think it is important to add (for posterity) that we are watching the season premiere of "Beauty and the Geek" (season 4), which we DVRed. Good times. And yes, I think "DVRed" is correct verb usage.

Contractions

Okay, so here are some contractions now. They're about 3 to 5 minutes apart, and they're lasting 30 to 45 seconds. This has been happening for over an hour and a half. This is so cool! They started coming DURING Kaleo tonight. So all you students out there, there were contractions going on right next to you. Weird.

We're in communication with Dr. Monti, and we're supposed to call her again in 2 hours if we're still contracting. We shall see!

Heading Home

Well, the goop did nothing. Camp is mighty happy in there. So, we'll be heading back to K-town in just a few minutes. We'll let you know when something happens. We'll see Dr. Monti again tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

The Second Walk

Nope, nothing on the second walk either. We tried to find where Laney is, but that didn't work out, so we're back in maternity observation getting checked out again.

Walking

So, we took a walk around the hospital for half an hour, but nothing so far. Now we're listening for something. Vague I know. That's pretty much how I feel. The nurse just said, "He looks great." More walking now!

Maternity Observation

Well, here we are. Becca just got some prostaglandin. Good times. Now she's on her side and we're waiting for something to happen. Susan and Sarah D. are here too. It's a small space we're in. Yeah. More to come.
